| Once
again, Cincinnati was the hosting association, but this time it
was for the National Convention, held at the Netherland Hotel in
June, 1974. The theme for the convention was "Opportunity Knocks---Let’s
Answer!" In addition to the educational talks and discussions,
tours were offered for members’ sightseeing pleasures. There
were riverboat cruises and tours to the newly opened Kings Island
Amusement Park.
By
1978, membership had soared to nearly 200, with many insurance companies
and agencies supporting the association. Monthly dinner meetings
were held at the Town & Country Restaurant in Northern Kentucky
until the early 80’s when we moved to the Quality (Now the
Radisson) in Covington, Ky. Cost of monthly dinners at the Town
& Country were $8.35.
During
this decade, there was an event known as "Bosses Night",
which is now our Annual Awards & Appreciation Night whereby
the employers and sponsors were recognized for all the support given
to the association over the years. One of the last "Bosses
Night" and one that will be remembered for years to come was
held at the Beverly Hills Country Club, just shortly before it burned
to the ground, taking many lives with it. That tragedy occurred
during the year Laura Nickol was President, 1977. Cost to attend
was $15.00.
Betty
Pennington was serving as our President in 1979 when the National
Convention was held in Nashville, TN.
